Michiro Ueyama
Description
Michiro Ueyama is a Japanese manga artist and illustrator, recognized as the original creator of several manga series that have been adapted into other media, including anime. His name in Japanese is 上山道郎.
Ueyama is best known as the author and illustrator of the manga Zoids: Chaotic Century. This series, which began publication in the late 1990s, served as the source material for the anime of the same name. While the anime was loosely adapted from his manga, Ueyama is credited with creating many of its central characters, including Van, Fiona, Zeke, Irvine, Moonbay, Raven, and Shadow. He also designed unique Zoids that appeared in his manga, such as the Liger Zero Caesar. The Zoids: Chaotic Century manga was published in English by Viz Media in the early 2000s.
Beyond his work on Zoids, Ueyama is the creator of the manga Tsumanuda Fight Town.
His more recent notable work is the manga Akuyaku Reijō Tensei Oji-san, which translates to The Old Man Who Got Reincarnated as a Villainess. The story follows Kenzaburō Tondabayashi, a 52-year-old civil servant who, after a traffic accident, finds himself reincarnated as Grace Auverne, the haughty daughter of a duke. This manga began serialization in Monthly Young King by Shonengahosha in March 2020. In January 2024, Ueyama confirmed on his social media account that the manga would be receiving an anime adaptation. This series has been noted as his first work to be published in French.
Ueyama is also known to be the older brother of Tetsuro Ueyama, another manga creator known for works such as Metal Guardian Faust.
