Anastasia Shestakova
Description
Anastasia Shestakova is the writer of the Japanese fantasy manga series World War Blue, known in Japan as Aoi Sekai no Chūshin de. The manga, which was illustrated by the artist Crimson, began serialization in 2007 on the mobile service of the publisher Red Road. The series concluded its original run in 2012, and its chapters were collected into nine tankōbon volumes. The North American publishing company Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the series for an English-language release, with the first volume appearing in the summer of 2013.
The narrative of World War Blue is a re-imagining of the historical competition in the video game industry, often referred to as the console wars between Sega and Nintendo. The story takes place on the continent of Consume, where two rival kingdoms, the Segua Kingdom and the Ninteldo Empire, are locked in an endless war. The plot follows a young, fast-footed boy named Gear who seeks vengeance against the Ninteldo Empire and joins the Segua Army, becoming a potential last hope for his kingdom. The series and its characters are designed as satirical interpretations of popular video game figures and the corporate rivalry between the two console manufacturers.
An anime adaptation of World War Blue was produced by the studio 5th Avenue. The anime began airing on Tokyo MX in Japan on October 20, 2012. The series was also simulcast by the streaming service Crunchyroll. Later, the anime was licensed for an English dub by Media Blasters and was distributed by the network Toku, premiering in February 2017.
