Last Note
Description
Last Note is an original creator known for the multimedia project Mikagura School Suite. The creator began by producing a series of Vocaloid songs on the Niconico video sharing website, which became the foundation for a broader narrative world. Building on the popularity of the music, Last Note authored a light novel series also titled Mikagura School Suite, which was published by MF Bunko J from July 2013 to August 2016, spanning eight volumes. The light novel is recognized as Last Note's debut as a novelist. The project was subsequently adapted into a manga, illustrated by Sazuki, which was serialized in Monthly Comic Gene from July 2013 to February 2016. A television anime adaptation, produced by the studio Animation Do, aired from April to June 2015.
The creator's work is characterized by a direct relationship between music and narrative, as the light novel and its adaptations expand upon the stories and characters originally introduced in the Vocaloid songs. In this process, Last Note has been credited as the original creator and author of the series, providing the source material for its various adaptations. For the anime adaptation, Last Note was also involved in the music production, composing and writing the lyrics for the opening theme song "Houkago Kakumei" and the ending theme song "Rakuen Fanfare." The series is set in a boarding school where students engage in battles using special abilities, blending elements of school comedy and action. By May 2015, the Mikagura School Suite series had sold over 820,000 copies.
