Kenichi Suemitsu is a Japanese playwright, scriptwriter, stage director, and creator born in Osaka Prefecture on June 18, 1976. He began his career as an actor in small theater companies in the Kansai region before forming his own theater group, Peacepit, in 2002, through which he wrote and directed original stage productions. Suemitsu is represented by the talent agency Watanabe Entertainment.

Suemitsu is best known as the original creator of the TRUMP series, a franchise of gothic fantasy stage plays that began with the production TRUMP in 2009. This series became his life's work, expanding to include multiple stage sequels such as TRINITY THE TRUMP and SPECTER, as well as novels, events, and manga adaptations. The TRUMP universe is set in a world of aristocratic vampires, exploring themes of immortality, political intrigue, and complex social structures.

His work on the TRUMP series directly led to his role as an anime original creator. The 2024 anime series Delico's Nursery is an adaptation set within the TRUMP universe, with Suemitsu serving as the original creator, as well as the series composer and screenwriter. The anime, produced by J.C.Staff, aired from August to November 2024. He held the same roles for the 2024 anime Touken Ranbu Kai: Kyoden Moyuru Honnōji, an adaptation of the stage play series Touken Ranbu, for which he had previously written and directed several installments.

Suemitsu's work in anime also includes serving as the series composer and screenwriter for the 2017 sports anime Welcome to the Ballroom. In addition to his stage and anime work, he is credited as the story author for a manga titled Trump, which was serialized in Kadokawa Shoten's Young Ace magazine from November 2020 to December 2023.

His career is distinguished by his role as a creator who bridges stage and screen. He has been a prominent figure in the 2.5-dimensional stage genre, writing and directing numerous productions for franchises like Touken Ranbu, K, and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, in addition to his original works.
