Forbidden Shibukawa
Description
Forbidden Shibukawa is the writer and illustrator behind the manga series Snack Basue. The series began serialization in Shueisha’s seinen manga magazine Weekly Young Jump on July 13, 2017, and concluded its run on May 29, 2025. Shueisha compiled the series' chapters into 18 collected tankōbon volumes, with the first volume released on February 19, 2018, and the final volume published on July 17, 2025.
The manga is a gag comedy centered on the everyday lives of the proprietor, the junior assistant, and the peculiar regular customers of a bar located in Sapporo’s North 24th neighborhood. The setting is described as being five train stops from the city’s Susukino business district.
An anime television series adaptation based on Shibukawa’s original manga was produced by Studio Puyukai. It aired from January 13 to April 5, 2024, spanning 13 episodes. The series was directed by Minoru Ashina, who also oversaw the scripts and served as animation director. The announcement of the anime adaptation was made in June 2023.
