Daigo Murasaki
Description
Daigo Murasaki is a Japanese creator known for originating the light novel series Demon Lord 2099. This series began publication on January 20, 2021, under the Fujimi Fantasia Bunko imprint by Fujimi Shobo, with illustrations by Kureta. The series, which blends science fiction and fantasy in a cyberpunk setting, won the 33rd Fantasia Grand Prize. As of late 2025, the light novel series comprises five volumes. The English language edition is published by Yen Press.
Beyond the original novels, Murasaki is credited as the creator for multiple media adaptations of Demon Lord 2099. A manga adaptation illustrated by Kiiro Akashiro was serialized on Kadokawa Shoten's Shōnen Ace Plus website from November 2021 to June 2022. A second manga adaptation, illustrated by Kan Sakurai, began serialization on the same platform in March 2023 and has been compiled into several tankōbon volumes. An anime television series adaptation produced by J.C.Staff aired from October to December 2024.
In addition to the Demon Lord 2099 series, Murasaki is also the author of Guillotine Bride, another light novel series. The first volume was published in English by Yen Press in May 2024. The narrative is described as a fantasy centered on a dragon-host sentenced to execution.
The creator's body of work often explores themes of power, legacy, and adaptation within worlds where magic and advanced technology intersect. The central premise of Demon Lord 2099, in which a resurrected demon lord navigates a futuristic cyberpunk city-state, exemplifies a creative focus on reverse isekai and science fantasy genres. This work represents a significant contribution to contemporary light novel and anime media, establishing Murasaki as the originator of a multimedia franchise that spans print, manga, and animation.
