Kenichi Tachibana is a Japanese manga artist born in 1977 in Saitama Prefecture. A graduate of Saitama University, he began his professional career in 2003 at the age of twenty-five when he started entering works in various manga competitions hosted by the magazine Weekly Young Jump. His early efforts were successful, earning several awards and honorable mentions that year for short stories including Potchari Maniacs, Oya Bakasutorēto, and Ore no Tomodachi wa Akai Yatsu, the last of which was published in the magazine in 2004.

Tachibana launched his first serialized manga, Lucky 7 Star, in Weekly Young Jump in 2007. The series ran until 2008 and was collected into three volumes. Following this, he worked on a short series titled VS. - Kitakantou Renzoku Youjo Yuukai Satsujin Jiken no Shinjitsu, which was based on a true crime story and published in Weekly Young Jump from 2009 to 2010.

Tachibana is best known as the illustrator for the science fiction action manga Terra Formars. The series, written by Yu Sasuga, began serialization in Shueisha's Miracle Jump magazine in January 2011 before moving to the weekly magazine Weekly Young Jump in April 2012. In this role, Tachibana is responsible for the visual design and artwork of the series, which depicts a future where humans must battle powerful, humanoid cockroach mutants on a terraformed Mars. Terra Formars became a significant commercial and critical success, earning the top spot in the male reader category of the Kono Manga ga Sugoi! guidebook in 2013. The popularity of the manga led to multiple anime adaptations, including a thirteen-episode anime series that aired in September 2014, a sequel series titled Terra Formars Revenge that aired in April 2016, and the anime film Terra Formars: A New Hope. The manga went on an extended hiatus in December 2018 due to the writer's health issues but resumed serialization in Weekly Young Jump in April 2024.

Beyond his work on Terra Formars, Tachibana collaborated with writer Yoichi Komori and story supervisor Takayuki Yamamoto on the manga GIGIANTIS, which was serialized in Grand Jump from 2021 to 2023 and collected into five volumes. His artistic identity is rooted in seinen manga, a category aimed at young adult men, and his work often features intense action, science fiction concepts, and detailed character designs. While known primarily as an illustrator for projects led by other writers, Tachibana is also credited as the sole creator of Lucky 7 Star. He has described himself as a very shy person in interviews and has cited the manga Yotsuba&! as a personal favorite. As the illustrator of one of the most successful seinen manga of the 2010s, Kenichi Tachibana holds a significant place in the industry, and his long-running collaboration with writer Yu Sasuga on Terra Formars represents a notable example of a successful artist-writer partnership in contemporary manga.
