Kogitsune Kanekiru
Description
Kogitsune Kanekiru is a Japanese author recognized as the original creator of the Re:Monster franchise. The creator began reading stories on the user-generated novel publishing website Shosetsuka ni Narō in 2009 while still a student in technical school, and this experience inspired the decision to write original works. The light novel series Re:Monster was serialized online on Shosetsuka ni Narō between May 2011 and 2018. The series was later acquired by the publisher AlphaPolis, which released the first light novel volume in print on August 7, 2012. The original light novel series is illustrated by Yamaada and comprises nine main volumes, one side story volume, and one extra volume published between August 2012 and August 2017. A sequel light novel series written by Kanekiru, titled Re:Monster: Ankoku Tairiku-hen, is illustrated by Naji Yanagida and began publication by AlphaPolis in July 2018.
A manga adaptation of Re:Monster, with art by Haruyoshi Kobayakawa, began serialization on AlphaPolis' manga website in March 2014. The manga is licensed in North America by Seven Seas Entertainment. An anime television series adaptation of Re:Monster, produced by Studio Deen, aired from April to June 2024. Within the anime's credits, Kogitsune Kanekiru is listed as the creator based on the original light novel. The creator's work on Re:Monster has been cited as a direct inspiration by Rifujin na Magonote, the author of Mushoku Tensei, who has stated that discovering a copy of Re:Monster in a bookstore motivated the decision to become an author.
