HundredBurger
Description
HundredBurger is a Japanese manga artist whose professional career began with the serialization of the comedy manga Ninja to Koroshiya no Futarigurashi. Born on December 18, 1986, the creator adopted the pen name HundredBurger from a period of several months when a daily lunch of hamburgers from McDonald's led to consuming over one hundred of them, inspiring the unique moniker. Before achieving mainstream success, HundredBurger worked in the service industry but left due to illness, spending time in recovery before returning to creative work.
The artist first gained an online following by posting a series of autobiographical comic strips on Twitter starting in 2019, featuring a blue-haired avatar named Hamburger-chan. These slice-of-life comics, compiled as Hamburger-chan Picture Diary, led to increased recognition and eventually to an opportunity to create an original series. This opportunity resulted in the debut serialized work, Ninja to Koroshiya no Futarigurashi, which began publication in ASCII Media Works' Comic Dengeki Daioh g magazine on February 26, 2021. The series, a comedy about a runaway ninja who begins living with a high school assassin, has been compiled into five tankōbon volumes as of March 2025.
The success of the manga led to an anime adaptation produced by the acclaimed studio Shaft. The anime television series, directed by Yukihiro Miyamoto with series composition credited to the studio under the collective pseudonym Fuyashi Tou, premiered in Japan on April 10, 2025. Crunchyroll licensed the series for international distribution. The opening theme song Yarenno? Endless is performed by Kana Hanazawa, who also voices one of the main characters, while the ending theme Ninkoro Dansu is performed by HoneyWorks featuring HaKoniwalily.
The creator's body of work centers on comedy and slice-of-life narratives featuring female characters, with both Hamburger-chan Picture Diary and Ninja to Koroshiya no Futarigurashi employing humor derived from everyday situations and character dynamics. In 2022, Ninja to Koroshiya no Futarigurashi was nominated for the eighth Next Manga Awards in the print category, bringing wider recognition to the series before its anime adaptation was announced. HundredBurger continues to serialize the manga while maintaining a presence through the original Hamburger-chan illustrations that first established the artist's following.
