Umiharu
Description
Umiharu is a manga artist known for illustrating the manga adaptation of the light novel series The Daily Life of a Middle-Aged Online Shopper in Another World. This series, written by Hifumi Asakura, began as a web novel before being published in print with illustrations by Yamakawa. Umiharu’s manga adaptation ran in Square Enix’s Monthly GFantasy magazine from April 2019 to May 2024, with its chapters collected into eight volumes. The story follows Ken'ichi Hamada, a middle-aged man transported to a fantasy world who uses his continued access to an Earth-based online shopping site to build a quiet, comfortable life. The manga adaptation contributed to the broader popularity of the franchise, which also inspired a 13-episode anime television series that aired from January to April 2025.
Following the conclusion of this series, Umiharu launched a new manga titled Bloodict, announced in early 2025. The title and early information for this new work suggest a stylistic shift toward darker themes, representing a new direction for the creator after the conclusion of their previous long-running series. Prior to these works, Umiharu also worked on a manga titled After School!, indicating a range of genres across their career.
