Necoco is a Japanese author known primarily as the original creator of the light novel and manga series Reincarnated as a Dragon Hatchling. The author began by serializing the story as a web novel on the user-generated content platform Shōsetsuka ni Narō in August 2015. The series quickly gained popularity, leading to a print publication deal. The first light novel volume, featuring illustrations by Naji Yanagida, was released in December 2015 under Earth Star Entertainment's Earth Star Novel imprint. Necoco continued to write the series for Earth Star Entertainment through the twelfth volume. In 2020, it was announced that the series had moved to Square Enix, which began publishing it under its SQEX Novel imprint starting with the thirteenth volume in January 2021.

Necoco is also credited as the author of other works, including the light novel and manga series Disciple of the Lich, as well as the manga series Boushoku-Hi no Ken. For Reincarnated as a Dragon Hatchling, the original light novel series has been adapted into a manga illustrated by Rio, which began serialization in Earth Star Entertainment's Comic Earth Star in September 2017. The manga is also published in English by Seven Seas Entertainment. The success of Necoco's original work led to an anime television series adaptation, which premiered in January 2026. The anime is produced by the animation studios Felix Film and Ga-Crew. As the original creator, Necoco is the sole credited writer for the source material, forming the foundation for all subsequent adaptations.
