Jel

Description
Jel is a Japanese entertainer and voice actor, best known as the orange member of the popular VTuber boy band Strawberry Prince (StPri). His career is marked by a unique blend of creative talents, encompassing music, illustration, video production, and voice acting, with much of his fame stemming from the original short anime series he created, Toi-san. He is formally associated with the music label STPR MUSIC.

Jel's background includes being from Osaka Prefecture and having been a member of his high school drama club, an early indicator of his performance interests. Before achieving widespread recognition, he created VOCALOID songs before deciding to use his own voice. He is known within his fan community for his energetic and humorous personality, serving as a mood-maker for his group, and possesses the ability to expertly imitate other people's voices, a skill he calls "voice magic".

The foundation of Jel's voice acting career is the Toi-san multimedia franchise, which he single-handedly created. The series began as a collection of short comedy skits posted on Twitter in April 2019, set in a parody otome game world. Jel is responsible for writing the original scripts, editing the videos, and, most notably, voicing every single character in the original shorts himself. This extensive solo voice work includes all the roles listed in the initial query: the protagonist Akane Tōi, Akemi Tōi, Hideki Otaku, a character named Jel, Junpei Tōi, Kenichi Minamoto, Momo Mochizuki, Satan Yamada, and Yuri Himeno. His ability to seamlessly switch between voices, including a natural-sounding female voice for Akane, is a cornerstone of the series' humor and a primary demonstration of his vocal range.

The immense popularity of the Toi-san short series, which has amassed over 10 billion total views across YouTube, TikTok, and other platforms, led to its adaptation into a major theatrical anime film. The film, titled Toi-san wa Seishun Shitai! "Baka to SmaPho to Romance to", was released in Japanese theaters on July 18, 2025. For this professional production, Jel's creative involvement expanded significantly. He is credited not only as the original creator but also as a co-writer of the screenplay, a planner, a storyboard artist, and a character designer.

In the film adaptation, Jel reprises his dual role as both the fictionalized version of himself (Jel) and the protagonist Akane Tōi. While the original shorts feature him in every role, the film expanded its cast to include notable professional voice actors such as Nobuhiko Okamoto, Takehito Koyasu, Ayane Sakura, and Aki Toyosaki, among others. This collaboration places Jel's foundational voice work within a larger, industry-standard production. Furthermore, Jel performed the film's opening theme song, "Mecchya Toi! feat. Jel & Toi-san", adding another layer of his musical talent to the project.

Jel's most significant achievement is the creation and vocal performance of the Toi-san series, which evolved from a solo online project into a full-scale theatrical anime release. This success highlights his multifaceted abilities as an "ultimate entertainer" who can write, animate, voice act, and produce content that resonates with a massive audience. His work with Strawberry Prince also includes voice acting in other contexts; for instance, the group members starred as the main voice cast in their own anime film, Strawberry Prince the Movie, which premiered in 2024. Through these projects, Jel has established himself as a distinctive creative force whose voice acting is integral to his broader identity as a content creator and performer.
