Ougyo Kawagishi is a Japanese author best known as the creator of the light novel series Jinsei, which was adapted into the anime television series Jinsei - Life Consulting. His professional career as a writer began after he won the third Shogakukan Light Novel Award, where he received a special jury prize for his work Jashin Ohnuma. He originally submitted this manuscript under the pen name Yu Aiuchi before adopting the name Ougyo Kawagishi for his professional debut. His active career as a published author began around 2009.
Kawagishi was born in Mie Prefecture and is a graduate of Waseda University's Faculty of Education, where he specialized in biology. His educational background in the natural sciences is reflected in his writing, particularly in his detailed use of scientific and biological references and humor.
