Nazuna Shiraume

Description
Nazuna Shiraume is a Japanese manga artist known for original serializations and high-profile manga adaptations. She is female and has been active in the industry since the early 2010s. Her professional debut includes original works such as the manga "Opapagoto" (also known as "Today I Become a Father"), which was published by Kodansha in 2014. Another notable original series is "Kuroha to Kousuke" (also referred to as "Kuroha to虹介" or "The Black Witch"), which ran for multiple volumes starting in 2017. Beyond her own serializations, Shiraume has contributed illustrations to numerous comic anthologies for popular franchises, including "Fire Emblem Echoes," "Touken Ranbu -ONLINE-," "Bungou to Alchemist," and "Hitorijime My Hero," showcasing her versatility across genres. She also participated in a special illustration collection celebrating the 90th anniversary of Mickey Mouse.

Shiraume is best known as the artist for the manga adaptation of the light novel series "The One Within the Villainess" (original title: "Akuyaku Reijō no Naka no Hito"). The original story is written by Makiburo and illustrated by Mai Murasaki. Shiraume launched the manga adaptation on the pixiv Comic platform and in Ichijinsha's Comic POOL magazine in November 2021. The serialization concluded on May 30, 2025, and was collected into six final compiled volumes. The franchise has reached four million copies in circulation across all formats, including digital sales. A television anime adaptation of the series has been announced and is scheduled to debut in 2027.

In her work on "The One Within the Villainess," Shiraume handles both the art and, according to some publication credits, the scenario or adaptation structure, while Makiburo is credited as the original story creator. Critical reception of the manga frequently highlights Shiraume's artistic contributions. Her drawing style is described as refined and delicate, capable of conveying lightness in introductory or slice-of-life scenes. As the story shifts toward its revenge-driven plot, her art becomes denser and more dynamic, employing exaggerated or grotesque expressions for antagonistic characters like the false heroine Pina, and darker, more majestic tones for sequences of retribution. Reviewers have noted that the visual quality elevates the source material, with some readers considering the art the primary strength of the manga. The overall narrative focuses on the original villainess Remilia taking revenge after a reincarnated soul who loved her is wronged, blending otome game tropes with kingdom-building and dark fantasy elements. Shiraume's adaptation is noted for toning down certain controversial elements from the original light novel, specifically avoiding the depiction of sexual assault as a form of punishment for villains.
