Kaede Nishikigi is the original creator of the light novel and manga series Reincarnation in the Game World Dan-Katsu: Game Addict Plays "Encouragement for Job Hunting in Dungeons" From a "New Game", often shortened to Dan-Katsu. Nishikigi first launched this story as a web novel in January 2021 on the Kakuyumu website, and also serialized it on Shōsetsuka ni Narō. The series was subsequently published as a light novel by TO Books beginning in March 2022, with illustrations provided by the artist Shuri. The light novel has become a significant work, with its 15th volume scheduled for release in March 2026. In addition to the original novels, Nishikigi is credited as the story's original creator for its manga adaptation, which began serialization in April 2022 on TO Books' Corona EX manga website, with artwork by Hiroshi Asagi. The manga's compiled volumes are also published by TO Books. The growing popularity of the property led to the announcement of a television anime adaptation in March 2026. The story follows a dedicated gamer who, after dying from the shock of losing his save data, is reincarnated as the protagonist of his favorite legendary role-playing game, where he uses his extensive knowledge to conquer dungeons and acquire powerful character classes. The series has achieved international distribution, with the novel published in English and French by Tobikawa Editions.
