Ayune Araragi is a Japanese manga artist and writer, known as the original creator of the romantic comedy series Isshiki-san wa Koi o Shiritai. Araragi is both the author and illustrator of this work, which follows the story of Rinna Isshiki, a prodigy police inspector who struggles to understand romantic love. The manga began under a different title, Rinna Keibu wa Kokyū ga Dekinai, serialized in Ichijinsha's Monthly Comic Rex magazine from October 2016 to December 2017 and compiled into three volumes. The series was later relaunched under its current title in Kadokawa Shoten's Monthly Shōnen Ace magazine starting in June 2020, with its chapters collected into nine volumes as of October 2025. An anime television series adaptation of Isshiki-san wa Koi o Shiritai has been announced, with Araragi expressing joy and gratitude for the adaptation, noting that the characters were brought to life by what she described as the best staff. The story centers on two romance novices, Inspector Rinna Isshiki and Detective Meishi Rokutanda, who agree to become a pretend couple to help Rinna understand her feelings. Beyond this primary work, Araragi has contributed to anthology series for major franchises including Mushoku Tensei, The Rising of the Shield Hero, Overlord, and Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!. Earlier works include one-shots exploring themes of crossdressing and psychological relationships, such as Hatsukoi Lovers, Onii-chan Complex, and Houkago, 2-C no Kyoushitsu de. The creator has also produced doujinshi related to the Rinna Keibu series. Araragi's artistic identity is rooted in romantic comedy with elements of office and police workplace settings, often featuring characters who are inexperienced in love navigating the complexities of adult relationships. The announcement of the anime adaptation marks a significant step in the creator's career, bringing their original work to a broader audience.
