Luis Tosar

Description
Luis Tosar, born on October 13, 1971, in Cospeito, Lugo, Galicia, Spain, is a highly acclaimed Spanish actor known for his intense and versatile performances in live-action cinema. He has received three Goya Awards, the highest film award in Spain, for his work in films such as Los lunes al sol, Te doy mis ojos, and Celda 211. In addition to his prominent career in live-action, Tosar has contributed his distinctive voice to several animation projects, particularly in Spanish and English language productions.

In the field of anime and animation voice work, Tosar is known for his role in the anthology series Star Wars: Visions. For the second volume of this series, which premiered on Disney+ on May 4, 2023, he voiced the character of the Sith Master. This episode, titled Sith, was produced by the Spanish studio El Guiri Studios. In this short film, Tosar voiced the dark side mentor who confronts his former apprentice, Lola, voiced by actress Úrsula Corberó. The director of the episode, Rodrigo Blaas, noted that Tosar's voice performance was capable of conveying terror even with a single line of dialogue. He performed this role in both English and Spanish.

Beyond his work in the Star Wars universe, Tosar has lent his voice to other major animated features. In the animated musical comedy Sing 2, released in 2021, he voiced the character Jimmy Crystal, the primary antagonist and a wolf impresario of a major entertainment corporation. Tosar has expressed that he was attracted to the role because the character had the traits of a gangster, which he found very entertaining to perform. The same source also indicates that his family were fans of the first film in the series, which further motivated his involvement in the sequel.

His animation voice credits also include the Spanish animated film O Apóstolo from 2012, where he provided his voice for one of the characters. While his career is defined by many significant collaborations with directors like Icíar Bollaín and Daniel Monzón in live-action films, in his voice acting work, a notable collaboration in the anime field was with director Rodrigo Blaas on Star Wars: Visions.
