Description
Kaname Futaba is a Japanese performer primarily active in musical theater and as a singer, who has also moved into voice acting. His most prominent and defining voice role is Jamil Viper in the Disney Twisted-Wonderland franchise. He reprises this character in the anime adaptation, Disney Twisted-Wonderland The Animation: Episode of Heartslabyul. For a significant portion of his career, Futaba has focused on stage performances, appearing in numerous musicals based on popular manga and anime series. Notable stage credits include the role of Saeki Kojirou in the musical The Prince of Tennis and as Hitachiin Kaoru in the musical adaptation of Ouran High School Host Club. He has also performed in musicals such as Run with the Wind and The Vampire Dies in No Time.
A distinctive aspect of Futaba’s career is his frequent collaboration with his older twin brother, Yuu Futaba. Together, they form the musical duo TWiN PARADOX and have often appeared on stage together, including playing the twin Hitachiin brothers in the Ouran High School Host Club musicals. In live-action media, he has appeared in the web drama Kamen Rider PunkJack. While his voice acting filmography is currently focused on a single major role, his work on the character song for Jamil Viper, titled Hebi to Matataki, has been noted by the franchise’s music creators. The composer praised his technical skill as a singer, specifically his ability to execute difficult vocal control and convey complex emotions.
