Imani Hakim

Description
Imani Hakim is an American actress who has expanded her career into anime voice acting, most notably providing the English voice for Alisa in the 2023 stop-motion animated series Pokémon Concierge. This series, set in a peaceful resort for Pokémon, marked Hakim's entry into the anime genre and brought her work to a global audience of anime fans. Her performance as Alisa, a character who works alongside the protagonist Haru, represents her growing presence in animated voice work.

Outside of her role in Pokémon Concierge, Hakim has taken on another significant anime-related voice role. In 2023, she voiced Beth in the Max original series Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake. This series serves as a spin-off of the beloved animated series Adventure Time, which, while produced in the United States, draws heavy aesthetic and narrative influence from anime. Her work on both Pokémon Concierge and Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake in the same year demonstrates a clear move into the realm of animated and anime-adjacent voice acting.

Before these roles, Hakim had already established a diverse career in film and television, primarily as a live-action actress. She gained early recognition for playing Tonya Rock on the sitcom Everybody Hates Chris from 2005 to 2009. Her career also includes the lead role of Olympic gymnast Gabby Douglas in the 2014 biographical film The Gabby Douglas Story and the role of Dana on the Apple TV+ comedy series Mythic Quest, a role she began in 2020. Her early voice work includes a role on the animated series The Replacements in 2006, where she voiced a character named Tiffany, showing that voice acting has been part of her repertoire for many years.
