Yūya Kurokami
Description
Yūya Kurokami is a Japanese manga writer and original creator, known primarily for conceiving the series Armed Girl's Machiavellism. Kurokami began their career in manga with Shinakoi, which was serialized from 2008 to 2011 and later compiled into four volumes. This was followed by Shinai Mijikashi Koiseyo Otome, a series that ran from 2011 to 2013 and was collected in three volumes.
Kurokami achieved wider recognition as the writer of Armed Girl's Machiavellism. The story, which focuses on a rebellious male student challenging a school where armed female students enforce strict discipline over the male population, was serialized in Kadokawa Shoten's Monthly Shōnen Ace magazine from March 2014 to June 2022. The series was illustrated by Karuna Kanzaki and spanned thirteen collected volumes. Its popularity led to a twelve-episode anime television adaptation produced by the studios Silver Link and Connect, which aired from April to June 2017, followed by an original video animation.
Following the conclusion of Armed Girl's Machiavellism, Kurokami created Hey, Aquarist!, which was serialized from 2023 to 2025 and collected into three volumes. Across these works, Kurokami has consistently been credited as the original author or writer, with different artists handling illustration duties for each series. The body of work demonstrates a recurring focus on narratives involving martial arts, conflict-driven school settings, and protagonists who challenge established power structures.
