Shinichi Karube

Description
Shinichi Karube is a Japanese television announcer and personality who has taken on select voice acting roles, primarily as cameo appearances or extensions of his on-air career. Born in Tokyo on October 8, 1962, Karube is a graduate of Waseda University and began working for the broadcaster Fuji Television in 1985. His primary profession is as a news and variety show announcer, most notably as a long-running regular on the morning program Mezamashi TV, which he joined in 1994.

Voice acting is a secondary aspect of Karube's career, and his roles are often tied to his identity as a Fuji TV personality. He has voiced characters in franchises associated with the network. One of his most notable voice roles is Tsurubebi, a fiery one-eyed monster, in the long-running GeGeGe no Kitaro series. He performed this role in both the television series Kitaro and the 2008 film Kitaro and the Millennium Curse, which is also known as GeGeGe no Kitaro: The Millennium Curse Song.

His other voice work includes the part of a Fantasy Teacher in episodes of the classic anime Chibi Maruko-chan. In a notable crossover from his broadcasting career, Karube voiced an announcer character in an episode of the Sazae-san television series in 2019. He also made an appearance in the 2013 film Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods, where he voiced a sushi chef. This character was modeled after his likeness, and his recording session was documented on his own morning show, Mezamashi TV. Additional voice credits include a minor role in a Japanese-language dub of the film Kung Fu Hustle. Karube's achievements in voice acting are best characterized by these recurring collaborations with Fuji Television-related productions, where he provides voice cameos that often blur the line between his on-screen persona and animated characters.
