Mikaela Hoover

Description
Mikaela Hoover is an American actress known for her work in film, television, and voice acting. She was born on July 12, 1984, in Colbert, Washington, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in theatre from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. Her career began with roles in independent films and web series such as Sorority Forever in 2008, followed by guest appearances on popular television comedies including How I Met Your Mother, Two and a Half Men, and Lucifer.

Hoover has been recognized for voicing the character Tony Tony Chopper in the Netflix live-action series One Piece: Into the Grand Line, which is the second season of the live-action adaptation of the popular manga and anime. She provides both the voice and the facial motion capture for the CGI character, a reindeer who serves as the doctor of the Straw Hat Pirates. The season is scheduled for release in 2026. In developing her performance, Hoover has noted that she took her own creative approach to the character rather than directly imitating the original anime version, while incorporating her genuine emotional connection to the role.

Beyond her work in One Piece, Hoover has performed voice and motion capture for other notable genre projects. She voiced the character Floor the Rabbit in Marvel Studios Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, released in 2023. She has maintained a frequent creative collaboration with director James Gunn, appearing in his films Super (2010), Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) as Nova Prime's Assistant, The Suicide Squad (2021), and Superman (2025) as Cat Grant. Her additional film credits include Holidate, Love Hard, and The Belko Experiment.

Hoover is also set to appear in the second season of the Netflix anthology series Beef, and she has expressed that her voice agent encouraged her to audition for the role of Chopper without initially disclosing the character or project, which led her to connect with the part based solely on the character's emotional depth.
