Minoru Matsumoto

Minoru Matsumoto is a Japanese actor whose career has included roles in film, television, and voice acting. He was born on March 1, 1974.

While primarily known for his work in live-action cinema, Matsumoto has contributed to anime projects, most notably providing a voice appearance in the 2013 Studio Ghibli film The Tale of the Princess Kaguya. His broader filmography is extensive, with many roles in action and drama productions.

Matsumoto portrayed SWAT 1 in the 2002 film Alive. He played the character Shinigami, also known as the God of Death, in the 2005 psychological thriller The Neighbor No. Thirteen. In the 2003 film Azumi, a period action movie based on the manga by Yu Koyama, he played the ninja character Saru. He also appeared as Saejima in the 1999 film GTO: The Movie, which is based on the popular Great Teacher Onizuka television series.

Throughout the 2000s and 2010s, Matsumoto built a substantial body of work in Japanese cinema. He acted in Ryuhei Kitamura's cult film Versus in 2000, and later appeared in the tokusatsu superhero series Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters in 2012. His other film credits include Over Drive from 2018 and the two-part historical epic Warriors of the Rainbow: Seediq Bale in 2011. On television, he has had roles in series such as JIN, MOZU, Emergency Interrogation Room, and Alice in Borderland.
