Description
Kanon Tani is a Japanese actress, voice actress, singer, and television personality born on May 4, 2004, in Saitama Prefecture, Japan. She began her entertainment career at a very young age, joining the talent agency THEATRE ACADEMY at three years old and making her debut as a print model for Disney at the age of four. Her early work included roles in television dramas, and she gained widespread recognition in 2011 for her performances in series such as "Zenkai Girl" and "Namae wo Nakushita Megami". This success was paralleled by a high-profile appearance in a commercial for NEC, which significantly boosted her public profile.
Tani's career expanded to include television hosting; in 2012, she became the youngest main host for the long-running children's program "be-Ponkickies," a role she shared with fellow child star Fuku Suzuki. That same year, she also ventured into music, forming the duo Star Flower with Seiran Kobayashi, which made her one of the youngest musical acts in Japan at the time. Her versatility as a performer led to a stage debut in 2014, starring in the lead role of the play "Paco and the Magical Picture Book".
As a voice actress, Kanon Tani is best known for her work in internationally acclaimed animated films. She voiced the character Yotsuha Miyamizu in Makoto Shinkai's blockbuster hit Your Name in 2016, a role she later reprised in the film Weathering With You in 2019. In 2017, she took on the lead voice role of the titular character Lu in Masaaki Yuasa's film Lu over the Wall. Beyond these major film roles, her voice work also includes the character Victoria F. Stein in the video game Bravely Default.
Throughout her career, Tani has been recognized for her achievements as a child performer. She was noted for having the most commercial contracts of any child actor in Japan in 2013, appearing in advertisements for major brands like NEC, Calbee, and Lotte. Her transition from a celebrated child star to a working adult actress includes pursuing higher education while continuing her career in the entertainment industry.
