Nana Mikoshiba
Description
Nana Mikoshiba is an author best known as the original creator of the light novel and manga series The Iceblade Sorcerer Shall Rule the World. The series follows Ray White, an ordinary-seeming young man who enrolls at the elite Arnold Academy of Magic, and the subsequent revelation of his connection to the legendary Iceblade Sorcerer.
Mikoshiba began publishing the story as a web novel on the Japanese platform Shosetsuka ni Naro in October 2019. The success of the web novel led to a print light novel adaptation, which Kodansha has published in Japan since July 2020, with illustrations by Riko Korie. The series has since been adapted into a manga illustrated by Norihito Sasaki, which began serialization on Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket website and app in June 2020. The English-language release of the manga is distributed by Kodansha Comics, with the first volume published in August 2022.
Beyond The Iceblade Sorcerer Shall Rule the World, Mikoshiba is the author of other light novel series, including Nana Seiken to Maken no Hime and Shijou Saikou no Tensai Renkinjutsushi wa Sorosoro Intai Shitai. The Iceblade Sorcerer Shall Rule the World is noted as the creator’s first work to receive an official English release. In the Japanese market, Nana Seiken to Maken no Hime has been recognized as a successful title, with reports of the series going into reprint shortly after its initial serialization and quickly ranking first in its publication's rankings; this series has also received a celebratory anime adaptation.
Mikoshiba’s primary role is as a writer and original story creator. The creator is not credited as a voice actor in the source materials for their notable works. In the production of the anime adaptation of The Iceblade Sorcerer Shall Rule the World, which aired in January 2023, the series was directed by Masahiro Takata and produced by the animation studio CLOUDHEARTS. While Mikoshiba is the original creator, the animation production staff, including the director and character designers, were responsible for the adaptation of the story into an anime format.
