Éric Gaudry
Description
Éric Gaudry is a Canadian actor from Quebec City, born in 1949, who has built a career primarily as a dubbing artist. His initial interest in acting emerged during his college studies when he participated in theater. In 1972, he was cast by director Paul Hébert in several small roles for the play Charbonneau et le Chef at the Théâtre du Trident in Quebec, a production that toured extensively across the province before he moved to Montreal. The numerous performances of this play served as his formative training. For approximately fifteen years, he performed on stages including the Rideau Vert and the Compagnie Jean Duceppe. He also appeared on television, notably in the popular series Rue des Pignons. In 1995, he decided to leave theater and television to focus exclusively on dubbing, documentary narration, and voice-over advertising.
Gaudry is recognized as the regular Canadian French voice for numerous prominent Hollywood actors. His consistent dubbing work includes providing the French Canadian voices for Samuel L. Jackson, Tommy Lee Jones, Liam Neeson, and Ed Harris. His extensive filmography in dubbing covers dozens of films for each of these actors, including roles such as Nick Fury for Samuel L. Jackson in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films, Agent Kay for Tommy Lee Jones in the Men in Black series, Ra's al Ghul for Liam Neeson in Batman Begins, and General Francis X. Hummel for Ed Harris in The Rock.
As an anime and animation voice actor, Gaudry has several notable credits. In the Transformers live-action film series, he provided the Canadian French voice for the character Drift in both Transformers: Age of Extinction and Transformers: The Last Knight. The character was originally voiced in English by Ken Watanabe. His other animation voice roles include Emperor Zurg in the Canadian French dub of Toy Story 2, the voice of Ghostface in the Scream franchise, and King K. Rool in the Donkey Kong Country animated series. Beyond character work, his voice is also highly sought after for documentary narration and commercial voice-over work.
