Takako Fuji
Description
Takako Fuji is a Japanese actress and voice actress born in Tokyo on July 27, 1972. She is affiliated with the theatre company Engeki Shuudan En and stands 165 cm tall. Her career in performance began after she graduated from Aoyama Gakuin University and completed studies at a theatre group's research institute, becoming a full troupe member in 1994. Fuji is widely recognized for originating the role of the ghost Kayako Saeki in the Ju-on horror film series, starting with the 2000 direct-to-video films Ju-on and Ju-on 2. She reprised this role in the subsequent Japanese theatrical films Ju-on: The Grudge and Ju-on: The Grudge 2, as well as the American remakes The Grudge (2004) and The Grudge 2 (2006).
As a voice actor in anime, Fuji has contributed to several notable productions. One of her earliest anime roles was in 1997 as a field woman in Hayao Miyazaki's film Princess Mononoke. The following year, she voiced Satomi Yuasa in Devilman Lady. In 1999, she appeared in the television anime Crest of the Stars as Gyumuryua and began her work on the long-running series Case Closed (also known as Detective Conan), providing voices for characters including Chizuru Tachikawa and Toshimi Ebihara across multiple episodes. Her other anime credits include a small role as a canal girl in Turn A Gundam, an Iwa Kunoichi in Naruto Shippuden, VV in Ghost in the Shell: Arise and Ghost in the Shell: Arise Alternative Architecture, an old woman in The Rising of the Shield Hero, and the President in The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague. More recently, she voiced the character Beth Smith in Rick and Morty: The Anime.
Beyond her work in Japanese animation, Fuji has been active as a voice actress for foreign film dubs. In this capacity, she has provided the Japanese voice for roles such as Sithandra in the live-action film Aeon Flux. She has also lent her voice to dubbed versions of international films and television series, including ER, Ugly Betty, Titanic for in-flight entertainment, and the character Natalie Teeger in Monk.
