After completing her higher education entrance qualification, she moved to the United States to study acting on a scholarship at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. Upon returning to Germany, she continued her training at the Hamburger Schauspiel-Studio Frese, graduating in 1995. Her professional base is in Hamburg, with additional residences in other German cities.
