Shunsaku Yano is a Japanese scenario writer, game designer, and creator known for his work across anime, manga, and tabletop role-playing games. Born in 1977, Yano has built a career centered on world-building and narrative design. He is the representative director of the scenario production company Flagnotes Inc..

Before entering the anime and manga industry, Yano established himself as a game designer in the tabletop RPG space. He served as the game designer for prominent Japanese TRPGs such as Double Cross and Grancrest, as well as contributing to titles like Arianrhod and Night Wizard. This background in interactive and systemic storytelling has informed much of his later work in other media.

In the manga field, Yano is best known as the original creator and writer of Try Knights. The series was written by Yano, with artwork by Chizuka Erisawa and original character designs by Rihito Takarai. Try Knights was serialized in Media Factory's shōjo manga magazine Monthly Comic Gene from June 2018 to August 2019 and was collected into three tankōbon volumes. The story follows two high school students, Akira Kariya and Riku Haruma, as they navigate the sport of rugby, with Riku rediscovering his passion for the game after meeting Akira.

The anime adaptation of Try Knights aired from July to October 2019. Produced by the studio Gonzo, the twelve-episode series was based on Yano's original concept and manga. For the anime, he is credited with the original work and as a member of the Try Knights Union, the collective credited for the original concept.

Beyond Try Knights, Yano has contributed to several other anime productions as a writer and world creator. He was the series composer for Grancrest War, an adaptation of the TRPG Grancrest, and for Phantom in the Twilight. He also worked on the original anime Engage Kiss, where he is credited for the setting. In the video game field, he has contributed to titles such as Akashic Re:cords and Tales of Luminaria, handling tasks ranging from world creation to main scenario writing.
