Ken Sansom

Description
Ken Sansom was an American actor and voice actor whose career spanned from the late 1960s to 2010. While he is not primarily known as an anime voice actor, he did perform in the English dub of at least one Japanese animated production. His most significant contribution to the medium came with the 1979 Sanrio stop-motion film Nutcracker Fantasy, a Japanese-American co-production. In this film, Sansom provided the voice for the Chamberlain, a role sometimes also credited as The Poet Wiseman. This performance remains the most direct example of his work as an anime voice actor.

Beyond this specific credit, Sansom built a prolific career in American animation and live-action television. He began acting in the late 1960s after moving to Los Angeles, with early roles on series such as The Brady Bunch. His voice acting career gained momentum in the 1980s with recurring roles on animated series like The Littles and as the voice of the Autobot Hound on The Transformers.

Sansom is best known for his long-running role as Rabbit in the Disney Winnie the Pooh franchise. He took over the character from original voice actor Junius Matthews following Matthews's death in 1978 and voiced Rabbit for over two decades, from 1988 to 2010. This portrayal spanned multiple television series, including The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and My Friends Tigger & Pooh, as well as numerous films and specials such as Pooh's Grand Adventure: The Search for Christopher Robin, The Tigger Movie, Piglet's Big Movie, and the video game Kingdom Hearts II. His tenure as Rabbit is a notable achievement, making the character his signature role.
