Bernard Ackah

Description
Bernard Ackah is a German-born actor and voice performer based in Japan. Born on April 9, 1972, in Bonn, Germany, he moved to Japan at the age of two. His career background is notably diverse; before entering the entertainment industry, he was a professional kickboxer and mixed martial artist. He also worked as a comedian as part of a duo called Shio Kosho in Japan.

Ackah made his anime voice acting debut in 2008 with a prominent role in the long-running series Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds. In that series, he voiced the Master of Ceremonies (MC) for the Fortune Cup and WRGP dueling tournaments, a role he continued to play throughout the show's run. Beyond his work in television anime, he also provided the voice for the character Tara in the series Metal Fight Beyblade.

While Ackah is active in live-action Japanese film and television, including appearances in the Kamen Rider franchise as Caitsith in Kamen Rider Wizard and as Gunman in Kamen Rider Drive, he is known to anime audiences for a specific role in the 2014 cult film Tokyo Tribe. In this live-action adaptation of Santa Inoue's manga, he played the character Jadakins. The film, directed by Shion Sono, is a hip-hop musical set in a near-future Tokyo where street gangs battle for territory.

His other notable achievements include an appearance on the 19th season of the sports competition show Sasuke (known internationally as Ninja Warrior). His athletic background in disciplines such as judo, which he practiced during his school years, and taekwondo, which he studied at Yonsei University in South Korea, has informed many of his physically demanding roles in Japanese action and tokusatsu productions.
