Hitomi Katayama is a Japanese actress born on September 22, 1980. She began her career as a fashion model, working in Paris, Milan, New York, Los Angeles, and Tokyo before transitioning to on-screen performance. Her early film work includes a starring role in Osamu Minorikawa’s 2007 film Life Can Be So Wonderful, and in 2008 she appeared as a regular on the Fuji TV drama series Ashita no Kita Yoshio. Katayama has also worked with established directors, starring as the heroine in Koji Wakamatsu’s 2012 film Petrel Hotel Blue and appearing in another Wakamatsu film, The Millennial Rapture, in 2013. She later appeared in Takashi Miike’s 2014 film Over Your Dead Body.

Katayama is known for her role as Yoko in the 2014 film Tokyo Tribe, directed by Sion Sono. The film is an action musical set in an alternate version of Tokyo where street gangs compete for territory, with the story told largely through rap verses. Her other film credits include roles in Hotel Blu Kaien (2012), The Millennial Rapture (2012), and Daremo mamorenai (2009). She also appeared in the 2015 documentary Making of Tokyo Tribe.

Beyond acting, Katayama has worked as a director and has published three photo collections in Japan with photographers Hajime Sawatari, Meisa Fujishiro, and Miyuki Matsuda. She later relocated to Los Angeles to pursue new career opportunities.
