Within the entertainment industry, he is known simply as Rubén Cerda, a first actor who has worked across various media including live-action telenovelas, radio hosting, and stage productions.

His career in voice dubbing includes a wide array of prominent roles in animated films and television series. He is notably recognized for providing the voice of Mickey Mouse for Disney projects between 1998 and 2003. In anime and animated series, his roles include Sleet in the series Sonic Underground and Donkey Kong in Donkey Kong Country. Other major animated roles include Oogie Boogie in The Nightmare Before Christmas, Kronk in The Emperor's New Groove, Bomb in the Angry Birds films, Strudel in A Bug's Life, and Pedro in the Rio films. He also served as the narrator for the Ever After High franchise and voiced Horton the Elephant in Horton Hears a Who.
