Taylor McNee

Description
Taylor McNee, also known by her maiden name Taylor Pelto, is an American voice actress, art director, and 3D animation artist born on May 28, 1990. She is best known for her work with Rooster Teeth Productions, where she began her career as an environment artist in April 2012 before being promoted to lead prop artist in January 2013 and later to art director in May 2013. In this capacity, she served as the art director for the first volume of the animated series RWBY. Her background in animation and 3D assets includes contributions to Red vs. Blue Season 10 as well as the video games Darksiders II and Warhammer 40,000: Dark Millennium.

McNee’s most significant voice role is that of Penny Polendina, a synthetic android with a soul, in the RWBY franchise. She first voiced the character in the original RWBY web series under the name Taylor Pelto. She reprised this role in the spin-off series RWBY Chibi and, most notably, in the Japanese-produced anime television series RWBY: Ice Queendom, where she provided the English voice for the character opposite Megumi Han’s Japanese performance. Her portrayal of the earnest and mechanically gifted Penny has become a defining credit of her voice acting career.

Beyond her on-screen voice work, McNee’s professional background is rooted in production and artistic design. Her transition from a behind-the-scenes technical role as an art director and 3D artist to a voice performer is a notable aspect of her career. Her work on the RWBY series encompasses both the creative construction of its visual world and the vocal embodiment of one of its key characters. Her professional history is closely tied to the Austin, Texas-based production company Rooster Teeth, where she collaborated on multiple projects.
