Ryuta Fujisaki

Description
Ryuta Fujisaki is a Japanese manga artist and original creator known for his work in both the manga and anime industries. He is credited as the original creator and planner for the anime adaptation of Grisaia: Phantom Trigger The Animation, a project based on the episodic visual novel series of the same name. His role in the Grisaia franchise involves the original concept and planning for the anime, which premiered as a film in 2019 and later received a television anime adaptation.

Beyond his association with Grisaia, Fujisaki is widely recognized for his long-standing career as a manga author, primarily publishing with Shueisha under their Shōnen Jump labels. Born in Mutsu, Aomori Prefecture, he began drawing at a young age and initially pursued studies to become a computer engineer before fully committing to a career in manga. He received recognition early in his career, winning honors at the 39th and 40th Tezuka Awards, which helped launch his professional debut with the short story collection WORLDS in 1990.

Fujisaki is best known for creating the manga series Hoshin Engi, which was serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump from 1996 to 2000. The series, inspired by the ancient Chinese novel Fengshen Yanyi, became a major success with over 22 million copies in circulation and was adapted into a twenty-six episode anime broadcast in 1999. He has worked on a variety of other manga series, including Wāqwāq, Sakuratetsu Taiwahen, and an adaptation of Fuyumi Ono's horror novel Shiki, all of which have been published in multiple languages. His career has seen both high-profile successes and series that were less commercially viable, reflecting a diverse and extensive bibliography that also includes numerous one-shot stories and art books. His artistic identity is closely tied to his tenure in Weekly Shōnen Jump and his frequent adaptation of existing literary and mythological sources into new manga formats.
