Ken Maeda

Description
Ken Maeda was a Japanese comedian, impressionist, actor, and choreographer who also took on select voice acting roles. Born on June 14, 1971, in Tokyo, Japan, he was affiliated with the agency K Dash Stage and was known by the nickname Maeken. His career was multifaceted, but his work as a voice actor was a relatively brief part of a larger body of performance work that included television, film, and stage.

Maeda made his debut as a voice actor in 2006, taking on the role of Gotsumon in the anime series Digimon: Data Squad (known in Japan as Digimon Savers). This marked his first foray into voice work for an animated television series. Gotsumon is a rock-like Digimon character, and Maeda provided the Japanese voice for this role throughout the series.

Beyond this notable role, Maeda is also recognized for his involvement in the long-running franchise Kochira Katsushika-ku Kamearikouen-mae Hashutsujo, commonly known as Kochikame. While he was part of the cast for this series, his role as Busjacker was in the live-action television drama adaptation of the story, rather than the animated series.

In addition to his on-screen performance, Maeda contributed to anime in a production capacity. He served as the dance supervisor and choreographer for the ending themes of several entries in the popular Pretty Cure franchise, including Fresh Pretty Cure!, HeartCatch PreCure!, Suite PreCure!, and Smile PreCure! He also had a voice acting role in Fresh Pretty Cure! as the character Kaoru-chan.

Ken Maeda passed away on April 26, 2016, at the age of 44. His legacy in the voice acting field is primarily defined by his work on Digimon: Data Squad and his choreographic contributions to the Pretty Cure series.
