Kyōsuke Maki

Kyōsuke Maki was a Japanese voice actor born on June 6, 1925, who passed away on October 16, 1993. His career encompassed voice work during the early decades of anime, particularly the 1960s and 1970s, as well as live-action acting roles. His most consistently documented role is as the character Captain, also designated as agent S1, in the science fiction and action anime series Skyers 5. He performed this role in both the original 1967 black-and-white television series and its 1971 color sequel, Shin Skyers 5, where Captain serves as the leader of the titular team. Beyond his work on Skyers 5, Maki provided voices for other notable anime series. He contributed to Lupin III: Part II, voicing characters including Detective Nigal and Dr. Zell, and appeared in the film Golgo 13 as Richard Flanagan. His voice acting credits also include Kevin in Lady Georgie, Kaoru Betto in Kyojin no Hoshi, and a role in Princess Knight. In addition to original anime, Maki worked on dubbing projects, most notably providing the Japanese voice of Dr. Benton Quest in the series Kagaku Shounen J.Q., the localized version of the American animated series Jonny Quest. His career also included work in tokusatsu and puppetry, such as a role in Probe Hunter and voicing White Colonel in Captain Scarlet. Maki was also known for his dubbing work for live-action foreign productions, including providing the Japanese voice of actor Leo G. Carroll as Alexander Waverly in the series The Man from U.N.C.L.E.. His live-action acting credits in Japanese television dramas include appearances in series such as Hana no Shougai, Shiroi Kyotou (the 1978 version), and Karei-naru Ichizoku.
