Shinpei Takagi

Description
Shinpei Takagi was a Japanese actor and voice artist born on October 22, 1985, in Aichi Prefecture, Japan. He was active in the entertainment industry from 2005 until his retirement in April 2017. Throughout his career, he was affiliated with the talent agency Stardust Promotion. He is the identical twin brother of actor Manpei Takagi, with whom he frequently appeared on screen and stage.

Takagi began his acting career primarily in stage musicals, with one of his earliest and most notable roles being Takeshi Momoshiro in the popular The Prince of Tennis musical series starting in 2006. He transitioned into television drama and live-action tokusatsu productions. A significant early appearance was in the 2007 Super Sentai series Juken Sentai Gekiranger, where he played a fake version of the character Retsu Fukami (GekiBlue) in a guest role; in a notable real-life connection, his twin brother Manpei played the real Retsu Fukami throughout the series. He also appeared in live-action adaptations of popular manga, such as playing Hikaru Hitachiin in the 2011 television series and 2012 film of Ouran High School Host Club, again co-starring with his brother as the twin character Kaoru.

Within the realm of voice acting, Shinpei Takagi is known for two primary anime roles. He voiced Takuma Tsuzuki, who becomes the New Akiba Red, in the comedic and meta tokusatsu series Unofficial Sentai Akibaranger, appearing in episodes ten and eleven of the 2012 series. He also provided the voice for the character Yūgo (also spelled Hugo in some sources) in the long-running anime series Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V, which began in 2014. In addition to these performances, his career included a wide range of live-action television dramas and stage productions. He and his brother Manpei jointly announced their retirement from the entertainment industry in April 2017.
