Axel Strothmann is a German actor, voice actor, dubbing director, and dubbing scriptwriter. Born in Dortmund on October 21, 1965, he has built a career across theater, film, and voiceover work. After studying English and spending time as an exchange student in Alaska and Scotland, he left his teaching degree program to pursue acting in Berlin. His extensive stage career includes ensemble work at theaters in Potsdam, Leipzig, Jena, Dresden, and a long tenure at the Theater Magdeburg from 2008 to 2014, followed by engagements at the Staatstheater Cottbus. On stage, he has portrayed iconic roles such as Mephisto, Claudius in Hamlet, Miller in Kabale und Liebe, and the title character in Onkel Wanja.

While his on-screen acting credits include appearances in German television series like Hinter Gittern – Der Frauenknast, Abschnitt 40, and Rosa Roth, Strothmann has become increasingly active in the field of synchronization since approximately 2020. In this field, he works not only as a voice actor but also as a dubbing director and dialogue writer for German-language adaptations of international productions.

Within the anime genre, Strothmann is known for his role as Kenji Kuroyanagi in the German dub of the animated film The Case of Hana & Alice, which was released on home video in Germany in 2023. He also voices the character Grimm in the German Simuldub of the anime series The Parallel World Chronicles of an Aristocrat (originally titled The Aristocrat’s Otherworldly Adventure: Serving Gods Who Go Too Far). He has been cast in an unspecified role for the German adaptation of the anime series Undead Unluck.

Beyond anime, his voice acting portfolio in live-action dubbing is extensive. He provides the German voice for Mohan Kapur as Yusuf Khan in the Marvel Cinematic Universe productions Ms. Marvel and The Marvels. Other notable dubbing roles include David O’Hara in the film Deus, James DuMont in Candy Cane Lane, and roles in series such as Painkiller, X-Men ’97, Black Knight, and The Brothers Sun. In addition to performing, Strothmann has taken on creative leadership roles in dubbing production, serving as the dialogue writer for the series Merlí. Sapere aude and as both dialogue writer and director for the German adaptations of Black Knight and The Brothers Sun.
