Tōru Emori is a Japanese actor and voice actor born on January 25, 1944, in Tokyo. His birth name is Tetsuo Kato. He began his career in theater, entering the acting school at the Bungakuza theater troupe in 1962, which laid the foundation for his subsequent work in film, television, and voice acting.

Emori has an extensive filmography that includes numerous prominent voice roles in animated films. He voiced Black Knight Faust in the 1981 film Adieu Galaxy Express 999, a role that stands as one of his most recognized anime performances. In 1978, he played the role of Susano'o in The Phoenix: Chapter of Dawn. Another notable film credit from this era is his role as Vega in the 1983 animated film Harmagedon, also known as Genma Taisen. He provided the voice for the character Gin in the 2003 film Tokyo Godfathers, portraying a homeless man and troubled alcoholic. He also voiced Dr. Seijiro Inui in the 2006 film Paprika. His voice acting extends to family-oriented films, including the role of Captain William Kidd in the 1998 Doraemon film Nobita's Great Adventure in the South Seas.

Throughout his career, Emori has engaged in recurring collaborations with specific directors. He worked with director Satoshi Kon on both Tokyo Godfathers and Paprika. He also collaborated with director Rintaro on the films Adieu Galaxy Express 999 and Harmagedon. His work in the 1998 Doraemon film and Tokyo Godfathers placed him alongside fellow voice actor Keiji Fujiwara.

In addition to his voice work, Emori has a substantial career in live-action performances, particularly in Japanese television dramas, including numerous appearances in NHK taiga dramas.
