Liam Cunningham

Description
Liam Cunningham is an Irish actor whose work in animation and genre entertainment has established him as a recognizable voice in English-language dubs of Japanese anime and Western animated series. While he is best known globally for his live-action role as the pragmatic and loyal Ser Davos Seaworth in the television series Game of Thrones, Cunningham has also lent his distinctive voice to a number of notable animated projects.

One of his key roles in a Japanese anime property is Michael Harrison in the 2009 live-action film Blood: The Last Vampire. It is important to clarify that this film is a live-action adaptation of the 2000 anime film of the same name, rather than an animated voice role. In this production, Cunningham plays an American military officer who becomes involved with the protagonist, Saya, a half-vampire on a mission to destroy demons.

Cunningham has contributed his voice to several high-profile animated series. He voiced the character Man-At-Arms, the royal weapons master and father figure to Teela, in the Netflix animated series Masters of the Universe: Revelation, which serves as a sequel to the classic 1980s animated series. This series, produced by Kevin Smith, is noted for its blend of anime-inspired action and Western animation storytelling.

His voice acting also extends to prominent adult animated comedies. Cunningham has performed voice roles in multiple seasons of the acclaimed animated series Rick and Morty, contributing to its fourth, fifth, and sixth seasons. In a related project, he voiced The Pupa in the first season of the animated series Solar Opposites, a show co-created by Justin Roiland, the co-creator of Rick and Morty.

A notable recurring aspect of Cunningham's voice work is his collaboration with former Game of Thrones co-star Lena Headey. Both actors were cast in major roles for Masters of the Universe Revelation, with Headey voicing the sorceress Evil-Lyn. This marks a professional reunion for the two actors in the voice recording booth.

Beyond specific voice roles, Cunningham has received recognition for his broader acting career. He won the Irish Film and Television Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in the 2006 historical drama The Wind That Shakes the Barley. This achievement highlights the dramatic depth he brings to his performances, whether on screen or in a microphone. While his anime-specific voice roles are not extensive, he continues to be a working presence in animation, contributing to both adult comedies and action-oriented fantasy series.
