Danilo De Girolamo was an Italian actor and voice actor born in Rome on May 1, 1956. He began his career in Florence as a theatre actor during the 1980s, participating in events such as the Festival dei Due Mondi, before transitioning into voice dubbing. His professional career in voice work lasted from 1980 until his death on May 9, 2012. While he provided voices for a vast array of films and television series, his work as an anime voice actor includes several notable roles in Japanese animation dubbed into Italian. He voiced the character Muska in the Italian dub of the Studio Ghibli film Castle in the Sky, Katsuhito Kubo in the anime series Magic User's Club, and Nakanishi in the series Gals!. Beyond performing voice roles, De Girolamo contributed to the Italian anime industry behind the scenes. He worked as a dialogue adapter for the anime series Popolocrois Monogatari, and served as a dubbing director for series such as Guru Guru - Il girotondo della magia and Dai-Guard. He was also responsible for the Italian dialogue adaptation for the anime series Pip Pop Pattle. In addition to his work in anime, De Girolamo had an extensive career dubbing live-action and Western animation. He is widely recognized as the Italian voice of Remus Lupin in the Harry Potter film series and James Norrington in the Pirates of the Caribbean films. In animation, he voiced Master Crane in the Italian dubs of the first two Kung Fu Panda movies and the television series Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness. Other prominent animated roles include Dr. Delbert Doppler in Treasure Planet, Fungus in Monsters, Inc., Gurgle in Finding Nemo, and the main role of Bear in Bear in the Big Blue House. As requested, an example of his work is the role of Donnie in the film Transformers: Dark of the Moon. De Girolamo was also a recurring dubbing artist for several international actors, including Alan Cumming, Matthew Modine, and Jack Davenport. In recognition of his expertise, he served as the President of the ANAD, an Italian dubbing company, from 2004 until his death, and directed the Italian dubbed versions of television shows such as Hannah Montana and the animated series Phineas and Ferb.
