Tōru Nakane, born November 6, 1957, in Tokyo, is a Japanese actor and voice actor. He is a graduate of the prestigious Waseda University, having studied in its First Faculty of Letters. His career in the entertainment industry began in 1982, and he has since worked extensively across both live-action and voice acting mediums. He is affiliated with the talent management firm Aoni Production.

Nakane’s early career was notably prolific in the Japanese film industry, particularly in pink films, where he was recognized as one of the finest actors in that genre. He has also appeared in numerous mainstream television dramas, including series such as Gokusen and Furuhata Ninzaburō.

As a voice actor, Tōru Nakane has built a substantial body of work in anime and video games, often portraying supporting characters, authority figures, and antagonists. He is known for his distinctive voice and has several notable anime credits. In the long-running series Naruto Shippūden, he provided the voice for two significant characters: Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki, also known as the Sage of Six Paths, and Ishikawa, the First Tsuchikage. He also appeared in the original Naruto anime as Fuki's Father.

Beyond the Naruto franchise, Nakane has voiced Daifugo in the One Piece anime series. In the 2011 adaptation of Hunter x Hunter, he played the character Basho. More recent roles include voicing Majin in Dragon Ball Daima and providing voices for the Digimon franchise, appearing in Digimon Ghost Game and Digimon Beatbreak. His film voice work includes a role in the animated feature The Birth of Kitaro: Mystery of GeGeGe.

Regarding the role of Ryuji Muroi in the series Jigoku Shōjo, Tōru Nakane does play this character. However, it is important to clarify that this performance was in the live-action television drama adaptation of Jigoku Shōjo, not the original anime series.

Throughout his career, Nakane has been recognized for his acting ability with several awards. In the mid-1980s, he was honored as Best Actor at the Zoom-Up Film Festival for his work in pink films. He later won the Pink Grand Prix Award for Best Actor in 1989. While much of his early recognition came from live-action roles, his extensive and consistent work in anime has solidified his status as a seasoned and respected voice actor.
