Tatsuhito Okuda
Description
Tatsuhito Okuda, born on August 10, 1968, in Tokyo Prefecture, Japan, is an actor primarily known for his work in live-action television series and films rather than a dedicated voice actor for anime. He stands 169 cm tall and attended Doshisha University. While often associated with the Death Note franchise, his role is frequently a point of clarification. He did not voice Hirokazu Ukita; that character was portrayed by a different actor, Ikuji Nakamura. Instead, in the 2006 live-action Death Note film and its sequel, Death Note: The Last Name, Okuda played the part of Detective Shuichi Aizawa, a member of the Japanese task force investigating Kira. His career extends far beyond this single role, with a substantial body of work in Japanese television. He has had prominent recurring roles in the long-running detective series Aibou (also known as Partners), where he played characters such as Detective Kohei Sawada and Officer Umezawa across multiple seasons starting in 2002. He also had a notable role in the 2003 medical drama The Great White Tower. In the realm of tokusatsu, which includes live-action special effects productions, Okuda has made significant contributions. He played the character Narutaki in both Kamen Rider Decade (2009) and Samurai Sentai Shinkenger (2009), and also portrayed Doctor G in the 2012 crossover film Kamen Rider × Super Sentai: Super Hero Taisen. His extensive television credits include appearances in popular dramas such as Mr. Brain, JIN (as Ryojin Matsumoto), Tokyo Dogs, Crisis: Special Security Squad, and Naoki Hanzawa. He also had a role in the Academy Award-winning film Departures. His career demonstrates a focus on character acting, with frequent appearances in guest roles and supporting parts in a wide range of genres. Through his work on long-running franchises like Aibou and Kamen Rider, he has collaborated with many directors and actors repeatedly, becoming a familiar face in the Japanese entertainment industry. Notably, most of his professional credits are in live-action productions, with no significant or widely documented body of work specifically as an anime voice actor.
