Atomu Shimojo was a Japanese actor and voice actor born on November 26, 1946 in Tokyo. He was the son of actor Masami Shimojō and actress Yoshiko Tagami. His career in the entertainment industry spanned several decades, beginning in 1971 and continuing into the 2020s.

Shimojo was known for a range of voice roles in Japanese television dramas, anime, and as a narrator. Among his notable anime roles was Futoshi Tsutsui in the series Human Crossing. He also appeared in the live-action tokusatsu series Kamen Rider Hibiki, where he portrayed Seijiro Tachibana, a character also known as Ichiro Tachibana who served as the head official of the organization Takeshi. In the live-action special for the long-running series Chibi Maruko-chan, he played the role of Hideji Saijō. Additionally, Shimojo provided the narration for the film Yamakoshi Mura no Mari to Sanbiki no Koinu.

Beyond these roles, Shimojo had an extensive career in voice-over work for foreign films. He was particularly known as the regular Japanese dubbing voice for actor Eddie Murphy, lending his voice to Murphy in numerous films. These included roles such as Axel Foley in the Beverly Hills Cop series, Prince Akeem in Coming to America, Reggie Hammond in 48 Hrs., and the title role in The Adventures of Pluto Nash, among many others. He also provided the Japanese voice for Charlie Brown in the Peanuts franchise and for David Starsky in the television series Starsky and Hutch.

His live-action acting credits include appearances in numerous Japanese television dramas such as the long-running police drama Aibou (also known as Partners), the mystery series Trick, the comedy-drama Minna! Esper Dayo!, and the television film series Haru-chan. He also appeared in films, including Kamen Rider Hibiki & The Seven Senki (2005) and Junpei, Think Again (2018).

Atomu Shimojo passed away on January 29, 2025, at a hospital in Tokyo at the age of 78. He had been diagnosed with an acute subdural hematoma in September 2023.
