Stefan Fredrich
Description
Stefan Fredrich is a German voice actor, dialogue director, and audio play speaker born on April 27, 1954, in Berlin. He completed his schooling before spending two years at a university of music, followed by three and a half years at the Fritz Kirchhoff drama school in Berlin. After his education, he performed at venues including the Kurfürstendamm Theater and the Winterhuder Fährhaus in Hamburg.
Fredrich is widely recognized as the standard German voice of actor Jim Carrey, having dubbed him in nearly all of his films. He has also provided the German voice for a vast array of other international actors, including John Turturro in most of his movies, Vince Vaughn, Meat Loaf in films such as The Mighty and Fight Club, Eriq La Salle in the first four seasons of the television series Emergency Room, Drew Carey in The Drew Carey Show, and Bruce Campbell as Sam Axe in the series Burn Notice. In the Star Wars franchise, he voiced the character Jar Jar Binks in the prequel films and the animated series The Clone Wars. He also lent his voice to the title character in the animated series Duckman.
In addition to his extensive work on live-action dubs, Fredrich has voiced characters in numerous animated productions. Among his notable voice roles are the character Simmons in the Transformers live-action film series, taking over the role from original actor John Turturro in the German dubs for films including Transformers (2007) and Transformers: The Last Knight (2017). He also played the role of Ritter Gilbert in the German-language version of the animated series Robin Hood (1990). Other animated voice credits include the role of Der gestiefelte Kater (Puss in Boots) in the German dub of the animated film The 7th Dwarf (2014) and Onkel Alfredo in Molly and the Christmas Monster (2011). He also voiced a character named Juan in the animated film Die Abrafaxe - Unter schwarzer Flagge (2001).
Beyond performing, Fredrich has worked as a dialogue director for numerous German-dubbed films.
