Jin Akanishi, born July 4, 1984, in Tokyo, Japan, is a Japanese musician, singer, songwriter, and actor who entered the entertainment industry in 1998 as a trainee under Johnny & Associates. He rose to prominence as one of the lead vocalists of the popular J-pop boy band KAT-TUN, which debuted in 2006. Alongside his music career, Akanishi has maintained an active presence as a screen actor on both Japanese television and in international films.

Within the realm of voice acting, Akanishi made his debut as a voice actor in 2008 for the Japanese-language dub of the Hollywood film Speed Racer. He provided the voice for the title character, Speed Racer, originally portrayed by actor Emile Hirsch in the live-action movie. This role stands as his most prominent and widely recognized credit in voice work. While he has been described professionally as a seiyū, or voice actor, his career has primarily focused on live-action roles and music.

Akanishi's on-screen acting credits are extensive and include several notable Japanese television dramas. He is well known for his role as Hayato Yabuki in the second season of the popular school drama Gokusen, which aired in 2005. The same year, he also had a supporting role in the romance series Anego. In 2007, he starred in his first lead role in the school comedy series Yukan Club, for which he was voted Best Actor at the 11th Nikkan Sports Drama Grand Prix. His film work includes the lead role in the 2010 Japanese movie Bandage and a supporting role in the 2013 Hollywood film 47 Ronin, where he played Chikara Oishi.
