Guido Meda

Description
Guido Meda is primarily known in Italy as a prominent sports journalist and the iconic voice of MotoGP motorcycle racing commentary. However, his career includes select work as a voice actor, most notably providing the Italian voice for the Motorball Announcer in the 2019 cyberpunk film Alita: Battle Angel. This role marks his entry into the world of voice acting for cinema, specifically for a film based on a manga series.

Meda's voice acting debut came through the film Alita: Battle Angel, directed by Robert Rodriguez and produced by James Cameron. In the Italian dub of the movie, he voices the commentator for the high-speed, gladiatorial cyborg sport of Motorball. His involvement was part of a marketing collaboration by 20th Century Fox Italia, which sought to blend the worlds of sport and cinema by using his well-known, energetic commentary style for a fictional sport. Meda himself described the experience as playing a version of himself from the future, specifically the year 2530. The voice direction for his performance was provided by Fiamma Izzo.

Beyond this film role, Meda has also lent his voice to an animated series. He voiced a character in the Disney animated series Topolino e gli amici del rally, which features the character Mickey Mouse. His career as a sports commentator has been his primary focus, and his work as an anime or animation voice actor remains a minor but notable aspect of his broader media presence.
