Haruka Suzuki is a Japanese animator, illustrator, manga artist, and director born in 1989 in Shizuoka Prefecture and based in Tokyo. A graduate of the Tokyo Institute of Technology, Suzuki worked as a freelancer until 2018 before joining the creative studio Pie in the sky in 2019. In addition to commercial work, Suzuki has created several independent short films, with directing credits for titles such as Greedy Steady from 2010 and Grief Work. from 2017.
Suzuki is the original creator of the four-panel manga Chikomaru, which began serialization on Shogakukan’s Sunday Web Every platform in 2021. The manga inspired a short anime adaptation that premiered on YouTube in January 2024, with Suzuki serving as the adaptation’s writer, director, and character designer. The story follows a pitiable hamster named Chikomaru living in a residence with thin flooring.
Beyond this original work, Suzuki’s professional credits as an animator and illustrator include work on several notable anime productions. Suzuki contributed key animation to the 2018 series Adults’ Defense Shop and the 2017 series Do Your Best, Magical Girl Kurumi.
