Chema Lara, born José María Lara Sentís on March 20, 1955 in Alicante, Spain, was a Spanish interpreter, voice actor, director, adapter, and dubbing teacher. He began his career as a performer on stage, working for fourteen years in zarzuela companies and touring Spain under directors such as Miguel Narros and Ángel Montesinos before transitioning to voice work in 1989 when he was hired by Arcofón studios in Madrid. Over his career, he performed more than seven hundred dubbing projects. In the anime series Saint Seiya, also known as Los Caballeros del Zodiaco, Lara provided the voices for several characters. He debuted in the series as Misty of Lizard and went on to voice Milo of Scorpio, Algol of Perseus, Jango, and Julian Solo, the human host of the god Poseidon. He also participated in the dubbing of the film Saint Seiya: Shinku no Shōnen Densetsu, providing the voice for Phoebus Abel. His voice, classified as deep and mature, was featured in a wide range of animated series, including The Simpsons, Family Guy, and The Incredibles. Beyond acting, Lara worked as a dubbing director and adapter for projects such as the series Gilmore Girls and the film Rosa y negro. He was also a professor at the Escuela de Doblaje de Alicante for the last ten years of his life and served as a vocal member and communications officer for several professional organizations, including the Federación Española de Profesionales del Doblaje and Artistas de Doblaje de Madrid. Chema Lara passed away from cancer in Madrid on September 2, 2013 at the age of fifty-eight.
